Wuyi Mei Zhan Jin Jun Mei · Black Tea Gift Set, Floral & Fruity
Wuyi Mei Zhan Jin Jun Mei · Black Tea Gift Set, Floral & Fruity
Wuyi Mountain grows more than rock oolong.
This is the other side of it -- a black tea made from Mei Zhan cultivar, processed in the Jin Jun Mei style, carrying the floral and fruit character that Mei Zhan is known for into a cup that's warm, smooth, and easy to love from the first sip.
The box is orange lacquer with a vintage stamp motif. The kind of gift that announces itself before it's opened.
What's in the cup
Jin Jun Mei style applied to Mei Zhan cultivar produces something distinct from either alone. The processing brings the warmth and sweetness of a well-made black tea. The cultivar brings florals and a light fruitiness that most black teas don't have. Together: a cup that's full without being heavy, fragrant without being perfumed, smooth all the way through.
No bitterness. No astringency. The liquor is clear amber, bright in the light.
Good for
— Low, sad -- warmth and sweetness in a cup is not a small thing
— Stressed, overwhelmed -- this is a settling tea; the smooth body has no edges to catch on
— Exhausted, no energy -- black tea warmth without the spike or the crash
— A gift for someone who drinks coffee and hasn't found a tea they love yet -- this is a strong candidate
Tasting notes
— Fragrance: floral and fruit, warm and present
— Liquor: clear amber, bright
— Sip: silky, smooth, naturally sweet
— Finish: warm and lingering, clean
— Resteepable: consistent warmth across multiple rounds
