Drumstick Dendrobium Flower · Golden Orchid Herbal Tea

There's a reason it's been called the golden herb for a thousand years.

Dendrobium (石斛) is one of the nine immortal herbs in classical Chinese medicine -- rare, slow-growing, and valued precisely because it can't be rushed. The flower version is even more fleeting: blooms for a short window, harvested by hand, dried carefully to hold what it carries.

What arrives in your cup is golden, quiet, and faintly sweet. The kind of thing you drink slowly.

What's in the cup

Drumstick Dendrobium flower (鼓槌石斛花) -- bright yellow, small, each one intact. Steeped in hot water they open slowly and release a pale gold liquor with a clean, lightly sweet finish. No bitterness. No sharpness. Just warmth moving through from the inside.

Traditionally valued for nourishing from within -- the kind of quiet support that works over time rather than all at once.

Good for

— My eyes feel dry and tired -- dendrobium has a long traditional association with eye comfort

— I feel cold, sluggish -- this is a warming, nourishing brew, not a stimulating one

— Exhausted, no energy -- not a caffeine lift; something quieter and more sustained

— Emotionally flat -- there's something about drinking something genuinely rare and good that shifts the quality of a moment

How to brew

Water temperature: 195--205°F (90--95°C)

A small handful of flowers (3--5g) per 300ml

Steep 3--5 minutes, or longer for a deeper cup

Resteepable 2--3 times

Also works cold brewed: 3g per 500ml, refrigerate overnight. The sweetness comes forward more gently this way.

Pairs well with a few goji berries or a slice of rock sugar if you'd like a little more sweetness.
